Butterfly Project

"An Evening In Terezin"

The sun goes down
and everything is silent,
 only at the guard's post
are heavy footfalls heard

 That's the guard who watches his Jews
to make sure they don't run away from the ghetto.
Or that an Aryan aunt or uncle
doesn't try to get in.

 Ten o'clock strikes suddenly,
 and the windows of Dresden's barracks darken.
 The women have a lot to talk about;
they remember their homes,
and dinners they made.

 Then some of them argue.
Others try to quiet them down.
Finally, one by one, they grow silent;
they toss and turn, and in the end,
 they fall asleep.

 How many more evenings
 will we have to live like this?
We do it know,
 only God knows.

  1. This is a really creative butterfly, good job. I like how you told what you did to make the butterfly. Your drawings are really good, and your symbolism is nice too. You did a nice job doing this butterfly from the poem, which doesn't give you much information. But on the green tag, you should introduce Eva like, "Eva, the author of the poem". And also in poems, the sections of words are called stanzas, so you could revise that too. Your explanations are solid. Great work with the butterfly, keep it up.

  2. You did really good on your butterfly, you explained all the visuals on your butterfly, and why you put them in. The idea of splitting your butterfly in half, as to having one side showing hope and the other showing fear was very creative. On the right side, your drawings were really good, it was really interesting how you chose to put Hitler, and then say that he symbolized the pain of the Jews. I can second that because, in my opinion when you think of the Holocaust the first things that pops in my head would be Hitler and the Jews. You could have added a bit more details to your explanations, but other than that, your work was great.

  3. I really like your butterfly! I think you did a good job on explaining what you drew and why, and you explained why you used a certain color. Your butterfly is really organized and it looks good how you split it up into 2 sections. I don't see any mistakes, so overall, nice job.

  4. You did a good job on your butterfly, your butterfly gives good explanation towards the different parts on your peom. The prisoner in the left wing gives good visualization towards how prisoner felt as if they were separated from the rest of the world with no freedom. The words choice on your butterfly is good, i am able to easily know what each thing on your butterfly is suppose to represent.
